I heard a different version of your joke.

The guy with the flat next to the mental hospital, after losing his wheelnuts is told by a mental patient to take a nut from each wheel and get to a garage. The guy remarks that it's a good idea and askes why, if he's so smart, why is he in a mental hospital. The patient answers "Because I'm nuts, not stupid."

----------

A group of Texans were touring Ireland and the tour guide pointed out a cattle farm. The Texans laughed and said that back home they have cattle farms many times as big. Later, the tour guide pointed out sports stadium. The Texans laughed and said that back home they have sports stadiums many times larger. Continuing on, the tour guide pointed out a local hospital. The Texans again laughed and said that back home, their hospitals are many times larger. The tour guide said he's sure they are correct because they're looking at a mental hospital.

----------

Same group of Texans, at the end of the day's touring, stopped at a small country inn. The inkeeper, while serving the evening meal commented that this year they had a grand crop of big and tasty potatoes. The Texans laughed and said that back home they have potatoes many times the size of these. The inkeeper reminded them that in Ireland potatoes are grown to match the size of your mouth.

Have fun, PW.
