Former Arkansas governor Bill Clinton may be known for his
"I-feel-your-pain" politics, but when it comes to the common touch,
he's got nothing on the state's current leader, Mike Huckabee.
While the governor's mansion in Little Rock undergoes extensive
renovations, Gov. Huckabee and his wife, Janet, will nest in a
Champion deluxe mobile home, the 2,131-square-foot Eagle Point
model, which now sits in the mansion's backyard. Rising interest
rates have buffeted the sales of manufactured homes, and the
Huckabee's move gives the industry a strong dose of positive
publicity. No word yet on whether any executive proclamations are
in the works to declare the First Backyard a No-Twister Zone.
