Ellison, there is more than the growth rate involved in valuing a stock. For example, investors look at the the durability and predicablity of the earnings stream. Also, smart people examine the "quality" of the business, or what's called it's franchise. Micorosoft has some characteristics that make it unique. Investors pay up for these one of kind franchises. They also like their management. I could go on but that is why the growth rate is just one one way to evaluate the big kahuna.

By the way, I also have a liltle Novell. But just a little (also underwater). When they began to falter, I started to realize that msft was formidable, and getting more so.

Anyway, I guess I don't have to tell you that I think you have your options trades backwards. But only time will tell. I also worry about Microsoft going too far, too fast. I know it may temporarily be overvalued but it is often a mistake to sell at that point, due to taxes. My entry point about three years ago at average of $43 so there will be hell to pay. I always think about writing a covered call (out of the money) on a small part of it but never pulled the trigger. I think it is a good hold and I plan to for years. I am not short sunw but feel selling out of the money LEAPS (98) is a good idea. Good luck.
