My good, moderate Libertarian, IIT friend loves his eVs going back from the Leaf which the government and power company pretty much gave him for free (basically lower power rates and subsidies made the car free to drive on a lease) to his current Tesla. He drives from the Bay Area to Canada to the North and Death Valley to the South without issue. He says you tell the car where you want to go and it directs you along an efficient path that includes super charger stations where the wait is usually zero. That may change now that the "riff raff" with union made EVs can soon charge there...

Then my very liberal brother bought a gas guzzler SUV, a Big Jeep luxury vehicle, and he loves it and figures gas isn't that expensive where he'd give up all the comfort. I got a few rides around Napa this weekend and I can say I look forward to more. It is SO comfortable. It was slightly used, 10K miles but still had the new car smell and was just over $50K. Perhaps Comedy Central or those podcasts like that he listens to told him Musk wasn't cool for liberals any more?

The Jeep vs the Tesla is apples and oranges. One is a huge, comfortable vehicle with great sound, leather, loads of driver assistance features similar to a Tesla while my Buddie's Tesla seems so Spartan inside but it has great performance if you want to act 1/3 our age and peel out.
