Yes, hybrids don't waste a lot of weight on a huge battery that needs charge to carry itself around. Toyota figured this out ages ago. Waste of money.

I like to fill my tank at 50% so I have a large safety margin should there be an earthquake or nuclear strike that takes out electricity to pump gasoline. I probably waste gas carrying around that full tank too but gas probably weighs a lot less than a battery for a given capacity.

I think of IIT as cream of the mental power crop of over a billion people. But I went to UC Berkeley and Stanford and can attest that there may be many brilliant people from those schools too. But far too many are idiotic leftists without a clue along with a few far-right nuts thrown in. Our level of patience probably runs a similar spectrum.
