Honest to God Lorrie, you are truly an incredible piece of work. How you go off on these tangents of male homosexuality is beyond me, but then I guess the internet is definitely open to all.
Since you will never be tainted by the "marriage" institution, let me tell you what a "normal" female views her role as in such even though I am sure you will say I'm flawed by my genetic "Y" chromosone orientation.
She is looking for Mr. Right. He is the one and only guy for her. The one for whom she hopes will be the perfect man. To perform the most important function of her life, the siring of her children, to love honor protect and provide for her and them, to cherish her before all others. And to never ever consider looking elsewhere for intimate companionship. A "normal" woman is deeply, horribly offended by that thought. This is most likely fatal to the relationship.
The "normal" mainstream heterosexual marriage driven women of this country saw in Bill Clinton a role model, fresh and new instead of the seasoned elderly corrupted by politics old guys that preceded him. Here was a boomer prez which a lot of women identified with, a prototypical present day family fatherhead, or so they thought. The man with a modern nuclear family of one child and a young girl at that. Someone they identified with as an image of their bygone teenage years. That is why I think most all mainstream women feel deeply and horribly wronged by the President. Despite the trivialization that has been applied by whatever spinmeisters to this tragedy involving Monica Lewinsky in their marriage. He committed his duty by his oath of office to all of us. This is much like the marriage vows he committed to Hillary, and he recklessly violated those vows and his oath of office, to his family and to everyone in the country striking a fatal blow in the hearts of all "normal" heterosexual and marriage minded women. They felt he was above all that, that he should be above all that base guttertalk stuff and he cheated on them just as he surely cheated on his wife and daughter, sacrificing everything that was good and wholesome and pure about their marriage, and did it so manipulatively and coldly.
I imagine the vision of his determined hardfaced countenance running through their minds, the finger jabbing at the imaginary television audience stating in no uncertain terms no equivocation, that in point of fact "NO! I did not have a sexual relationship with that woman! Ms. Lewinsky..." That image carved an indelible mark which many carried for seven months as the cornerstone of their faith in their loyal hearts. And then, then cornered by the press of reality he trivializes the enormity of his violation of trust by just uttering an unemotional statement of regret. Regret ? Regret getting caught ? Sorry but they don't buy it. The damage is irreparable. The bond of trust once broken will not be repaired. He has made a mockery of this sacredly held institutional bond that "normal" women know. They will not forgive nor forget.
Regarding Hillary I find I must agree with you. She appears more committed to some contract than to her own spirit. Yet even in the mask of her public image, as they were escaping to some form of supposed cleansing seclusion, if you watched her carefully in the tapes of their arrival at Martha's Vinyard, you could see her stoically seething in grimfaced acceptance that she must carry the perversion of her contract through while in the public eye. But I'll bet dollars to donuts she unloads in private, that she assails him with her total humiliation and anger. He has made a laughingstock of his legacy and Hillary knows that and knows he has tainted her legacy as well, indelibly. All that she worked for and stood for, in your terms her tenacity and dedication were trampled by her husband in publicly recounted trysts with a child-woman in secret corners of the White House, while she, the "loving spouse", was minding her own business upstairs. Some legacy!
But of course you will have none of this cuz according to you, men are all homosexually afflicted by visions of other male butts, and Bill is a Celebrity.
Guess we'll be seeing him on the cover of magazines at the grocer's checkout stands pretty soon admonishing us that screwing around with a child-woman in the White House is somehow none of our business and that lying doesn't matter cuz "its just about sex" and "besides its the economy stupid..." Oops! Guess we'll have to forget about the latter from now on. |
