Rep. Dan Burton (R-Ind.) says Vanity Fair magazine has
been poking around his private life and plans to run a "scandal
story" about him as part of an effort by Clinton supporters to
scare him off his investigation of campaign finances.
The Republican lawmaker claimed Monday that a Vanity
Fair reporter has spent seven weeks in Indiana talking to more
than 200 friends and associates.
"They've talked to women I've known in my life, they've
talked to friends and relatives, kids I went to grade school
with," Burton said at a town hall meeting in Frankfort, Ind.
But Beth Kseniak, a spokesperson for Vanity Fair said,
"It's totally ludicrous that the White House would orchestrate
any story in Vanity Fair."
The Indianapolis Star and several other news
organizations have also been investigating reports that Burton
has had relationships with women outside his marriage, The
Star reported
