You don't have to go that far back to get some pretty low prices - Detriot, 1964, gas was 19 cents a gallon at Marathon. "Classic" bottle coke was 10 cents. The Saturday Matinee was 25 cents... "High Test" gas was a little more. I remember filling up my dad's Caddy and being shocked to get a bill for over $4 which pretty much wiped out my budget for the week.
