Some actions get you a suspension, while some get you a lifetime ban. Bryan, you should know what his actions merit. That's part of what you're paid for. This is like when we were paying you for the priviledge of being forced into testing the beta SI. (still using "classic", b.t.w.)
Please decide for yourself what the rules mean, and how to enforce them. The membership will vote by renewing their own memberships or not.
For my part, I've rarely caught A&P's act. We once exchanged unpleasantries, but were still able to communicate civilly afterwards. I respect a man who can do that.
I certainly admire his zeal for sticking it to the scumbags, and even if it's hollow rhetoric, it is some fine ranting which I find highly entertaining. Entertainment is a big part of the attraction of SI and the Evil Short Consortium are a billion times more entertaining than the p&d touts. Maybe the literate, the knowledgeable, the experienced, and the unique should get special preference in an arena like this.
I won't officially vote, because it would dignify this bad idea (the vote without the evidence = a popularity contest), but I will put forth this post if it helps you decide. If I vote for anything, it is that there be no more votes ever again on this type of issue.
Until then, I vote there never be an ignore button to ensure the blind can see the debunking of the paid shills, spammers, children, fraud touts, certs callers, and the like (all TOS vilators who run wild). I vote SI advise people their identities are being subpoenaed by vengeful criminals and their zealot minions before releasing any personal information, and I vote if anyone is still reading this we go out to a "back porch somewhere where you can get toasted on Jim Beam and act like a moron, scream about how the Canadian Buddhists have taken control of the AM radio stations and are hurting your ability to survive and then puke and fall asleep on the lawn." (Tastes Like Chicken)
Good luck either way, Anthony. Skewer the swine. |
