It means that is what the market thinks it is worth.

The stock price will reflect that only if enough people show their confidence by buying more shares. I think you are confusing the market cap with the actual "book value" of the company, which is based on the assets, cash, etc. owned by the company (in other words how much the liquidation value is). The former is determined only by the market and the latter is determined by accountants. In a nonreporting company, you will never know the actual book value because it is not verifiable by a neutral third party.
