Ebay made .04 in Q3, expected to make the same for the next two quarters; .18 for the year (Yahoo Research). Sales are 30MM.

ONSALE on the other hand lost .17 in Q3 and is expected to .16 for Q4 and .10 for Q1. '99 is forecasted for a loss of only .01 - probably very conservative though. There sales are 181MM - about 6x that of ebay.

So, sales are much better, but still not quite profitable. eBay is more than likely profitable due to charging commission on each sale - i don't think ONSALE does.
