Our kitties bring us a dead rodent every day - one a day - and leave it on the front doorstep. Usually shrews, occasionally mice or chipmunks or rabbits. Today for the first time a squirrel. Poor things. I joke that we must belong to the "Rodent-a-Day" club!

I think it is the mama of the kittens who does it. One day last year I had the front door open and was on the computer, and heard a peculiar thumping noise behind me. When I looked, I saw that the mama had a dead chipmunk and was thumping it around, trying to attract the attention of the kittens, who were snoozing and did not wake up. I think she has been trying to teach them to hunt.
