>Your Compartmentation statement is essentially jelly. It says yes and it says no, not
settling on either. Should War be Glorified because "we" did not have to do it? Or
should it be hated, because we don't cotton to its morality?<

Not jelly, but the hardened steel pin upon which my idea pivots.

I do not seek to glorify War. I am contented to glorify those who answer the call to war - while feeling that war itself suuucks.

This is important. And it gives me cause to place emphasis on my plea for Compartmentation. Do not confuse an admiration of the warrior with an admiration for, or even condonement of!, the act or state of war.

I feel that you are conforming my argument to fit your initial premise, even though at the outset I requested separate treatment.

I don't think my moral compass fell off the table. I suspect instead, that somebody gave the table a sharp nudge. <grin>

>Doesn't the
phrase "Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition" give you any problem?<

"So tell me Sir - when did you stop beating your wife?" It's a big non sequitur ... I don't see how it develops out of my musings. I didn't treat of it.
