I didn't say you were. I was just asking what, aside from the loss of land, prevents the Turks from supporting the idea of an independent Kurdistan and giving up some chunk of present day Turkey to the new country? If it is just Turkish pride, screw them. If there is some other "vital interest" I'm curious what it might be.

I'm of the belief that if the vast majority of a specific region of a country wants to secede, they should do so, and probably they and the original country will be better off. People don't want to secede from countries where they receive equal rights and reasonable economic benefits from the national government. They generally want to secede when the opposite is going on, and if the national government (anywhere) is failing after a few decades of convincing a people that they are better off as part of the national team, then the national government has failed, and the people are probably better off giving things a shot on their own.
