We invaded -- it was a bad idea. We screwed up again and again. Its a mess -- a sad tragic mess. There is no happy ending. Don't blame others for what you have wrought. The job of those that follow will be damage control -- cleaning up this mess as best it can be cleaned up. The stain of this will be with us for a long time.
