So what? Nobody loves a world power. When the British were one, they were widely hated too- -including by Americans.

If you want everyone to love you, you will end up an indecisive dishrag that everyone mops the floor with. If someone is being a serious jerk and has to be stopped, you have to do things to them that are going to make them hate you. Unfortunate, but you still have to do it.

And let's not forget envy in this: "Oversexed, overpaid, and over here". Remember that from the Brits in WW2?

The Brits really have done much better than the frogs, though. The frogs have never begun to recover from the fact that THEY did not emerge from WW2 as the world's dominant power. They seem to have expected that in spite of the fact that they Germans cleaned their clocks in a matter of weeks.
