Welcome to my house.

This is a place for my guests to gather, eat, drink, and discuss whatever interests them - Politics, religion, television, food, music, their kids, or pretty much anything else besides investing. Investment discussion is welcomed at the Galapagos Islands thread:

Subject 53299

I built this house with my bare hands and the help of a single rodent. I welcome others into it, but they are my guests. If they behave in a manner which would cause me to ask them to leave my real house, likewise they will be asked to leave this house. There are a few people that based on previous encounters or observations I have decided not to invite to my house. That is my decision, just like at my real house it is my decision which neighbors and friends and acquaintances to invite over. Those I choose not to invite are undoubtedly loved by someone, their own families, friends, dogs, and colleagues. They are free to speak on the vast majority of threads at SI, and that's great. But if I don't want them around my house, that's the way it is. I intend to leave my house open to the vast majority of active posters on SI.

As for guidelines, I don't issue those when I have a party at home and I won't issue them here. Just treat this like somebody's home and you'll be fine.

Respectful discourse from all slivers of the political spectrum are welcome. Disagreement is fine. Please feel free to bring up new topics, items for discussion, etc. If a dispute spills over from the bar down the street on the corner, the combatants will be politely asked to return to the alley behind that bar and continue their fisticuffs there.

I've stocked the wine cellar with vintages from France, California, Washington State, and Australia....please feel free to bring your own bottle to share. Beer is in the fridge ..... Beck's, Heineken, Old Milwaukee (for any Wisconsinites that wander by), and Budweiser (for football Sundays). Sorry, at this time no light beers are available. There's some pizza and sushi over on the table. If you want veggies, please bring your own. A full complement of headache medicines is in the medicine cabinet in the upstairs bathroom; please help yourself.

And last of all, remember, there is no need to beware of the dog, but please feed him once in awhile. Thanks.
