Good move. A safe that can be carried is not a safe. It's an invitation for a thief to remove it.

In our 2nd house we had a floor safe under some carpet. Unless you knew where it was, it was impossible to find.

Simple things like locking doors and windows, not keeping spare keys outside under a floor mat or flower pot, security lights, and alarm system signs and warning, dog signs can go a long way towards securing a home.

That house with a floor safe had a pretty extensive security system that I never paid to activate. The signs outside worked just fine to deter thieves. Stats and thieves themselves confirm this. We also had a "panic room" at that place.

A year after we sold that house, a retired couple in their 80's who lived in that neighborhood about a half mile away from our old house had their home robbed and both were whacked. I'm not sure how much was stolen, but both perps were caught and convicted.
