Well I was in the NRA and they still call me every other day trying to get me back.

Yes, I went a bit over board to try and make a point about the bazookas etc but the Rifleman does have regular ads for quad runners, night vision scopes and larger banana clips for AKs and AR-15s etc.

As for house to house sweeps, we aren't in Kosovo and anything that could have been done with a 25 cal could have been done better with a 45, 357 or 44 not to mention that a shotgun would have been even more easy to use, and much more effective. The shotgun is the most under rated home defense weapon anyway. What crook is going to come into your bedroom if he hears the rack clack of a 12 gauge pump being cycled. It is usually not even necessary to shoot since he knows that 1, you don't have to be trained well to be effective, 2, you don't have to aim well to be effective, and 3, he doesn't know if he will be filled with thousands of little holes or one big giant big one. <ggg>

As for the constitution, in 1776, they couldn't imagine we would have the technology, much less the weapons that are available today. Add to that that we weren't even a country yet and had to "real" army. Militia was all we had. How could they have known we would become the #1 military power of the world. As for fighting one street at a time, how many people really keep more than a box of ammo around anyway. Not all gun ownders reload like many of us nor keep enough ammo handy to be considered a "threat" (On the pro gunner's side, I was watching a news cast and they made a big deal out of some guy having 200 rounds of ammo in his house and stated he must have been getting ready for a major assault. I quicly figured out roughly how many rounds I have in 22s, shotgun shells, 357, 45, 44 and came to the conclusion that they would think I am about to start WW III. <gggg>)

As I wrote, I understand the fear of give an inch and they will take a mile and I don't want to lose my handguns either but sometimes you need to separate the excesses from common sense.

Gun control is a joke. Criminals don't buy their guns from gun stores, Clinton and Gore are out in left field there. But hunters also don't need the "preferred" weapons of bad guys either so if we allow the useless hunting weapons to disappear, we will have less 25s etc on the street as the remaing ones are confiscated by police from criminals or they are tossed into rivers, garbage etc following crimes.

Good Luck,

Lee
