As a fellow AOL hater :-}, I have wondered if any of the analysts who had a buy recommendation on AOL use their service, I highly doubt it.
When they increased the amount of hours you get per month, Wall Street was concerned about how that might impact future earnings, actually that was the best thing AOL could do in the short run. I never used AOL when I started on the Internet , but I have seen how really lousy it is first hand through friends accounts. A lot of people who really
dont know what the real Internet is use AOL , when they finally see the real net through a true provider they dont stay with AOL much longer. With access to the net becoming easier through local ISP accounts and a lot cheaper , I suspect its only a matter of a couple of years before AOL loses that huge subscriber base. Unless they offer the same amount of hours as the local services do for the same money , and improve their on line service (downtime , access time , etc), they are in real trouble.
