Sometimes I take a lot of flack for becoming an AMERICA ON-LINE believer. After all, their p/e is stratospheric, and they only recently turned in their first profitable quarter. But there are reasons why they are a worthwhile stock. The future of on-line communication is going to be big, no doubt about it. And nearly all of the growth is in the form of NEW customers. Most people like to start with something simple, easy to understand. Of course there is MSNetwork, it will be easy to understand and access. But it will take time to get their content going. AOL is already well established, it is the most popular service by far. Word is that MSNetwork is not a great service yet, plus they plan on limiting capacity. Also, their pricing plan is NOT competitive with AOL considering what you get for your money. But the best reason why AMER (AOL) is a great stock is this... It is the only pure on-line play out there. You can't buy stock in MSNetwork, it is tied to MSFT. You can't buy Prodigy, it is owned by Sears and IBM... CompuServe by H&R Block... America On-Line is the only "pure" online stock available, it is the industry success story. If you want to invest in On-Line services AOL is the most rational choice. | ||||||||||||||
