Amen, Brothers and Sisters,
If there is one thing in my life I have always opposed, it has been organized religion.
However for social values, organized religion provides wealth and security of mind and "spirit" for those seeking continuity. Religion was the answer to world's oldest questions and fears, especially death. And when it became organized (and secret), the lust of power overtakes the good message, a typical human response.

How about being a Transhumanist?

fun read, but again susceptible to the same human traditions, no?

I am reading Sex & the Origins of Death by William R. Clark where he shows (his research and many others) that single cell organisms can (if in ideal conditions) be immortal and once sex was initiated and evolved that senescence and "programmed" death results on a cellular scale.(Sex is defined as a transfer of DNA). An easy read even for a simple mind like mine (not kidding), explaining death in a scientific yet creative tale of a man having a heart attack.

Overall a fun subject that will open a can of worms and let the genie out of the bottle.........

My favorite Christian character is Peligius(1)(well, besides the Cathars) and my favorite Greek is Archytas(2) and at one time my favorite Physicist was Hugh Everett(3) and wrote a poem a long while back in SI about beliefs, cynically:
