Sorry I couldn't reply in timely fashion, but I note that others on this thread responded to your inquiry.

The MCI/WCOM merger is almost an accomplished fact, awaiting only formal approval from the regulating agencies. Until then, we can expect nothing but silence from Ebbers and company. This is not a
time to make waves. However, beneath the silence, I wager that strategic planning is under way, and further announcements will be forthcoming. A dynamic enterprise like WCOM has to be ahead of the competiton to grow. As Andy Grove of Intel famously said "You have to be paranoid to survive." The managers of WCOM want not just to survive but to grow.
