US man fined for shipping himself McKinley said he was homesick A man who shipped himself in an airline crate half-way across the United States has been fined $1,500 and sentenced to four months' house arrest. A federal court in Texas, also put shipping clerk Charles McKinley, 25, on probation for a year. In September last year, McKinley sent himself in a cargo crate from Newark airport in New Jersey to Dallas/Forth Worth in Texas, to visit his parents. He said he had resorted to this because he had no money and was homesick. The shipping documents said the crate contained a computer, a monitor and clothes, according to prosecutors. It was sent without insurance.
