YA GOTTA LUV THE BIG APPLE: A rookie New York City beat cop is given his new assignment: to enforce the 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM curfew that was instituted after the riots that followed the recent brutalization of a black civilian by members of the NYPD. "Now remember", says the duty sergeant, "no-one is to be on the streets after six in the evening." Later that day, at five minutes before six, a series of pistol reports resounded through the neighbourhood. On arriving at the scene, the duty sergeant took in the sight of the rookie cop, smoking gun in hand, glaring down at the body of a dead, bullet-riddled black man. "What were you thinking", screamed the livid sergeant, "curfew doesn't start till 6:00 PM?" "That may be so", says the rookie cop, "but I know where this fucker resides - and he wouldn't have made it home in time"
