ATMI's Emosyn Venture Hires Asia Development Executive
DANBURY, Conn., Nov. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- ATMI, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATMI - news), today announced that its Emosyn smart card venture hired Chin Seong Lee to expand business development efforts at its Asia sales office based in Singapore. Mr. Lee, most recently with the Bull smart card group, will play an instrumental part in helping Emosyn grow in the Asia-Pacific region.

Emosyn's Director of Sales, Grahame Lucas, said, ``By focusing solely on the smart card market, Emosyn plans to grow in strategic geographic regions while gaining market share during this market slowdown. Our customers gain a distinct competitive advantage when it comes to introducing new products more quickly by using Emosyn's Theseus(TM) smart card microprocessors and Rania® development tools -- they enjoy no inventory obsolescence because the application is defined at production.''

Chin Seong Lee said, ``Using Emosyn's Theseus and Rania products means our customers can penetrate growing markets ahead of their competition. Our smart card integrated circuits and software development tools are designed to ease the burden of smart card developers. Their security and flexibility have generated significant customer demand in high-growth Asian markets. I'm pleased to be representing such a dynamic company whose products present a real advantage.''

Prior to joining Emosyn, Chin Seong Lee spent six years with smart card manufacturer Bull Malaysia. He has previous experience working with silicon companies in Asia.

Emosyn's Rania development tools enable software and hardware developers to write and port applications onto the Theseus family of flash-based integrated circuits. The Theseus Gold 48 and Theseus Gold 96 microprocessors are being used in GSM applications worldwide.

Emosyn, a fabless semiconductor company, is an ATMI venture. Emosyn's design center is based in San Jose, California; corporate headquarters are in Danbury, Connecticut; and sales and marketing headquarters are outside of London, England.

ATMI provides specialty materials and services to the worldwide semiconductor industry.
