The growing popularity of Sistani in Iraq and SCIRI's decision to drop "revolution" from their title are encouraging signs.

My hope, dare I suggest it, is that we might obtain a "2 for 1", by our efforts in Iraq. Two countries that will can somehow find their way back into the community of progressive nations. For this reason, I've suggested that attacking Iran would be counter-productive. There are already many forces of dissent within Iran. Where we can play a part is to confront the militants long enough to where these moderate forces can find a political and social foothold.
