Keane Begins Third Phase of Effort, Establishes Program Management Office

BOSTON, June 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Keane, Inc. (AMEX: KEA), a leading software
services firm and provider of year 2000 compliance solutions, has been awarded
a year 2000 compliance contract by First Citizens Bank (Nasdaq: FCNCA), based
in Raleigh, North Carolina. The agreement is Keane's 250th year 2000 contract
to date.
The new contract is a continuation of Keane's previous year 2000 work with
First Citizens. Keane was selected by the bank at the start of the bank's
year 2000 effort, and recently successfully completed an enterprise planning
assessment and strategy and conversion plan for preparing all of the bank's
40 mission-critical mainframe applications to operate in the new century.
First Citizens expects to complete its year 2000 effort by the end of 1998.
Under the new contract, Keane will provide continued direction and support
for the third and final phase of the project, which includes plan
implementation, code remediation and testing of the bank's 1400 impacted
mainframe programs. Keane's Raleigh-based team will continue to apply its
Productivity Management and Resolve 2000(R) methodologies and leverage
VIASOFT's tools throughout the implementation process. In addition, Keane has
established a program management office to provide leadership, coordinate
activities for the year 2000 effort, monitor the process and communicate the
status of the efforts throughout the bank.
