I did well from tax loss selling last year but I suspect that this strategy will not be nearly so rewarding this year for two reasons.

1. The fact that it did work so well last time will mean there will be much more money looking for these stocks in December and cushioning their fall.

2. Much less realized gains to set off against losses. Even the people who bought in September are not likely to sell before the end of this tax year.

I'll still try it but I won't be as enthusiastic as last time.
