I saw U2 not once, but twice, when they were just starting out, playing small venues with only a few hundred people.

I had no idea what they would become, but they were marvelous even then.

I saw the Beatles on their first tour, when they played at an outdoor stadium in New Orleans, and not a big one at that. I couldn't hear much but screaming.

My recollection is that U2 was better.

As far as the Neville Brothers being remarkable -- Louisiana is one remarkable place. The arts scene is rather small, and pretty much anybody can hang out as long as you act cool. Eubie Blake, Clifton Chenier, Louis Armstrong, the New Leviathan Oriental Foxtrot Band. It's a happening place.
