To All: I talked to I/R today. They still claim to be sold out for the year. When I asked about price policy, I was told that they have not tried to capitalize on the oversold situation by hitting the price. The reason being that they want to preserve good long term relations. My point is that considerable flexibility exists to ensure that earnings forecasts are achieved by touching the price button. It is interesting to note that long term relations was the reason Shapiro gave when duPont exercized price restraints back in the 70's during the oil shock. duPont got killed by failing to reflect replacement cost in their pricing decisions. They actually lost the respect of their customers at the time. Lets hope WFR understands that if you don't improve margins when product is short, you have nothing to give to hold business at attractive margins when supplies loosen up. Does anyone have reliable info. re. pricing in the category. Cliff Wood
