Hello! I just signed onto this sight, and was surprised that there
were no postings on MEMC. This company trades on the NYSE. They make @24%
of ALL the silicon used in the world. You name a BIG company & if they
need silicon wafers, they know MEMC.

The company was part of Monsanto until 1989, when it was sold to a German
conglomerate VEBA-AG. The stock came public in July 1995 at the IPO price
of $24.00 The first trade was $27.00. Since then, it has fluctuated between
@$22.75 and $40.00 .

I guess what I find unusual about this company is that only J.P. Morgan and
CS First Boston follow them. No "retail" brokerage firm covers MEMC, thus I
believe, it's unknown status.

I MUST tell any and all who read this, that YES, I do own the stock. I must
also tell you that my opinion and 75 cents will get you a soda out of most
vending machines.8-)

Currently, MEMC has expansions well underway in Korea, Taiwan, Texas
and their HQ in St. Peters, MO. They have long term agreement with TXN
vis-a-vis the Texas plant. Other long term agreements/partnerships are
being negotiated. Whether the agreements ever materialize is anyone's guess.
The company's earnings are due out after market close Monday, Jan. 29, 1996.
In the previous quarter, the 2 analysts that follow the stock had predicted
54 cents. MEMC reported 72 cents. This time, they are predicting....in the
area of 64- 71 cents.

Anyway, I was wondering...anyone else on here ever watch this company?
