Greenberg admits he screwed up on Zixi

For what it's worth: Cuban was one of the biggest bears on Zix Corp. (ZIXI) when I was writing positively about it. We went back-and-forth on it at the time. He and the shorts, it turns out, were right.

And this note: I don't usually look at the technicalities of who is buying/shorting stocks I write about. I care about what is going on at the company.

As it turns out, Zix rose quite a bit after I wrote positively about it. (Funny, nobody alleged I was in the "pockets" of the longs.) With Zix, the stock then fell after the company failed to execute.

Who was to blame? Promoters of Zix tried to convince me it was the naked shorts. One even offered me "the story of your career" about naked short manipulation. In the end, however, the blame went to management which over-promised (causing the stock to rise) and underdelivered (causing it to fall.) Pretty straight forward.
