Would you post the URL of the article about Cyberguard? Net security sector is indeed very crowded with both hardware and software companies. However, it is not a sector with you-too-me-too technology. Everyone knows that cats and dogs stay at home, but only cats will catch rats for you. May your dogs do the same work for you? May be, they may do it once or twice. You may shake your head if you watched them how to catch a rat. Firewalls and VPNs are the hot and must-have products in this internet time and money generators for next a couple of years. So companies jumped into this sector is very reasonable because they notice the above facts as both your cats and dogs have good noses. If there were rats in your home, you may like to have a cat to stay with you. If you want take a piece of net security pie, you should have CHKP with you.
