Golan-Globus Background:
In the 1980's, Golan-Globus built the Cannon Group into a highly successful production and distribution company,
and created the business model for today's low budget independent film company. According to the Academy of
Motion Picture Arts and Sciences6 in 1996 Cannon was ranked first among all independent film studios and tenth
of all major production companies in the US. with a 2.7% total market ' et share of box office receipts. The company
maintained a number 14 and number 11 ranking among all production con4xmies in 1987 and 1999 with a 1.3%
and 1.1% market share respectively. After reaching the pinnacle of its success in 1986, Cannon Group strayed
from its proven business model to work with higher budget films, utilizing high yield financing resulting in a
vastly overleveraged balance sheet causing the ultimate demise of the company- Golan-Globus's films won
several awards and nominations in-their history which demonstrates 1hat the team was able create production
