We have a lot of trails here, too. I agree about the gravel, it is easy on the knees and feet. There is a nice converted railroad right of way called the Washington & Old Dominion Parkway, but it is paved with tarmac. Very nice to bike, it goes from Alexandria all the way to Purcellville, in the foothills of the Blue Ridge mountains. Pretty all year round but especially in the fall.
