As gentle as the manatees are, there is the other side-
alligators. Know where Red Bug Lake is? Several years, more than a decade come to think of it, and moved a fella from New York to the lakes edge. He was having a dock built and incomplete
but that didn't stop him from getting us out there and look at the long dark shadows in the water next to it, his pets.
I dont remember if he fed them or not but those hung around his area. What he did say I will always remember, "Now listen, what don't you hear?"
(and we listened and shrugged, no what?)
"dogs, the little yappers, can't hear them can you?,
ahh, my pets"
That cracked us up, typical NY attitude, and eventhough
I read of disasters with little kids and making them not fear man, I believe they were meant for each other.
Seen those BIG ones down alligator alley sunning themselves.
And I always wanted to see the panthers down there.
