If there is one great country in the world in serious decline, this would be it. In fifty years, France's economy will resemble Greece's-tourism and not much more. This is a country that believes govt spending, effete regulation (window in all offices facing the sunrise or sunset), and trade unions will lead them into the global marketplace of the 21st century. Great restaurants and beautiful scenery will not get them through reality of global competition.
