McAuliffe always chooses his words carefully. Candor is not exactly a virtue in his world. I have previously stated that I expect Davis to resign before the actual recall vote. I am sure that the lesson of Toricelli has not been lost on Davis.

Not living in California, I am not familiar with its Constitution. Would Bustamante automatically complete the remainder of Davis' term or would there be a special election? Would Davis be allowed to live in the state or would he have to move out? Would he be required to do penance with Carter's Habitat for Humanity or can he immediately begin a career as a lobbyist? Can he convert some or all of those excess campaign contributions for personal use? Will he move to Watts and set up an office?
