In addition to your analysis, I wolud like to add one comment. The major difference between Sun and Microsoft is that Sun has a lot of competitors on the market and Microsoft is dominating in its field.
It's hard to find any new major competitor for Microsoft in the near future. That's what Wall Street like. They also like intel, and Boeing. Just because they are dominating in their industry. They don't need to do any further analysis, as long as the economy and industry are doing fine. So they can have a nice sleep at night without worring any bad news tommorw.

There is no fair game in the stock market. It's just the way it works.
