Your estimate of earnings is quite close to mine. The street has (or had) them coming in at $1.07, down from last quarter. That's not going to happen. They will be up at least as much as last quarter, and then some... So, very empirically speaking, I was guessing about 1.20 - 1.25, and if pinned down, 1.22. (all figures pre-split)

This is why I've tried to warn people who are selling DELL short based on historical PE. I know that the charts say that DELL is currently at an all-time high PE. But the fact is that the PE is difficult to measure because of 1) the continuing buy-back which makes the float a guess; and 2) because DELL is increasing their earnings so rapidly, that all figures for projected earnings are extremely low.
