Despite Mytec's lobbying with the Province of Ontario to push Datacard/Citibank to use their system at Metro, it is not going to happen. The Province won't use anything that Metro does anyway! Datacard will likely recommend Cogent's technology for Metro. There is a lot of confusion about what the ID system has to do, how it's going to do it and whether it will perform without the availability of the finger-image. Anotherwords, a lot of welfare applicants may be refused simply because of innaccuracies in the system and if a true finger- image is not available, how is the situation reconciled. As I keep teling this group, don't pin any hopes on a welfare deal. Has anyone thought to contact Compaq PR regarding that company's discussions with Mytec? It may be illuminating!
