Wednesday April 21, 12:08 pm Eastern Time Company Press Release Internet Export Service a Hit With UK Companies LONDON and CARY, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 21, 1999--The Dialog Corporation plc ('Dialog') (NASDAQ:DIALY, LSE:DLG), a leading provider of Internet-based information, technology and eCommerce solutions to the corporate market, today announced that subscriptions to the TradeUK Export Sales Leads Service (http://www.tradeuk.com), which is operated by the Company's eCommerce Division, have more than tripled in the past eight months.
More than 8,879 UK companies are now registered to receive sales leads from around the world using Internet technology - an increase of more than 250% on the previous fax-based sales leads service, which had just over 2,400 users.
Dialog was awarded the contract to operate TradeUK on behalf of the UK Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in February 1998. The service Dialog delivered is Internet and e-mail-based so sales leads are automatically matched to potential suppliers, then communicated to those UK exporters quickly and efficiently. Since the launch in September 1998, existing users have been actively migrating to the new system and many new users have commenced using the service.
The TradeUK service also includes an Internet-based National Exporters Database (NED) which went live in July 1998 - the first official Government database which can be used by anyone in the world to identify UK suppliers. Any UK firm on the NED is able to register for the Export Sales Leads Service and receive sales leads, free of charge.
Andre Brown, Chief Executive Officer of The Dialog Corporation's eCommerce Division, commented: ''The TradeUK Export Sales Leads Service was established to give UK companies instant access to details of business opportunities from around the globe. As the DTI funds the running of the service, it is provided free of charge to the companies who need to use it. This means there are no barriers to small-to-medium size companies taking advantage of what TradeUK has to offer, and we are convinced that this plays a significant part in the popularity of the service. Our target now is to continue working with the DTI and Business Links around the country to encourage even more UK businesses to register for the TradeUK Export Sales Leads Service.'' |
