Carl: Your point is absolutely correct. This stock has fallen like many of the semiconductor stocks, however, it is the price of memory chips that has fallen. The unit volume is actually increasing sharply in response to the falling prices. That should be good news for MEMC, and will lead to increased demand for wafers. That is what attracted me to this stock in the first place.
However, we have seen what has happened in the semiconductor market to memory manufacturers when supply finally caught up to demand. Gross margins fell dramatically and the stocks plummetted. I am not aware of any thing like that happening in the market for raw wafers, but I would feel better if someone with first-hand knowledge would step in and let us know that prices are not eroding.
