Hi Jack, Yes, I spent the better part of two years averaging down and accumulating shares of the gold fund. It's "out-performed" the energy stock fund during most of 1998 and '99 by not dropping as much!

I decided since oils and energy stocks have been hit so hard recently, that I'd shift from gold to oil. Both ideas are very long term. When I made the shift, I was 100% invested in the gold fund, but only invested 67% of the proceeds into VGENX and reserved 33% for future downward averaging if needed.

I'm studying the rest of my portf. to see what else needs a fresh look.

Best regards, Tom
