Other GPS companies...

Trimble aims primarily at the high end of the GPS market. Most of their receivers are a thousand dollars or more. There is probably more growth available in the lower end of the price range. In the last several months, Garmin has produced a number of cheap models that are selling very well. The Garmin GPS 38 is priced at under $200,
and has a lot of features that make it pretty handy and easy to use.

Within the next few years, I expect to see a lot of new cars coming out with GPS NavAids built in. The GPS chipset providers, the system integrators, and the flat panel display companies should benefit. Also look for new security systems that report the car's position when stolen, or that let Mom & Dad keep track of where the teenagers have been driving.

So how does Garmin look on the fundamentals?

ps - for more on flat panels, I've recently started a new thread under Semiconductors.
