I think Dunleavy's loss is a huge blow for such a young, inexperienced team. Sure they can absorb it for several games but the goal is a national championship and I believe this may put it out of reach if he doesn't recover quickly.

I'm sad as well about the state of the Carolina program. I agree that Roy Williams is the ideal job applicant to succeed Guthridge. Some opine that whether or not he will be interested in the job ultimately depends upon how Guthridge is treated. Which is to say that Dean's diaspora are the one big family we all know them to be and that how Guthridge is treated by the UNC administration will color their collective relationship with the school. Much as I think that Roy Willliams is the ideal candidate, I believe that Matt Doherty is more likely to wind up in the position.
Eddie Fogler looked like such a promising young coach when he was at Vanderbilt, but doesn't appear to have accomplished much in his time at S. Carolina. I remember when both him and Guthridge sat on the bench next to Dean. Were both men held in equal esteem back then? I wonder how the Carolina community views Fogler now, if he is thought of much. I think it's bad form to leave one coaching position for another within the same conference. I wonder if USC playes the same up tempo game his Vanderbilt teams did, lead by none other than Duke's very own transfer Billy McCaffrey, now in Australia.
