Since you are west of the Appalachians and we are east, seems to me that we ought to get different snowfall levels. Usually you'd get the worst since the storms usually come from the west and north, but this one seems to be sliding up the Atlantic coast.

Usually the people in the Blue Ridge mountains get the worst around here. When we lived about 15 miles further west, I could watch thunderstorms come rolling down the mountains and roll east towards us. I can't see the mountains from here.

The Chesapeake Bay acts as some kind of barrier, too, storms from the East aren't as strong after they cross the Bay. So we are kind of sheltered here, usually.
