I'm not sure this reply belongs in this area. TriQuint maufactures devices made from Gallium/Arsenide wafers. They don't actually produce any wafers themselves. Aside from this GaAs wafers aren't even in competition with Si. They are a whole other ballgame as far as cost and aplication. The technology I would watch for is something called SOI which stands for Silicon On Insulator. This will probably be the future of super high speed/density applications. Basically an SOI wafer is two wafers bonded together with an oxide layer. The top one is then ground down till it's only a few microns thick. Then it's polished and used to create devices. The cool thing about these wafers are that it requires exactly twice as many MEMC or whoevers wafer to produce them. This doubles the need for any current device fab that wants to produce with them. Watch for any news on this proccess.
