Be careful of whom ? The sexy receptionist ? or Eugene ?...anyways...it does appear that internet gaming could in fact become quite a big industry ($600B). But being Billy Bob (the idiot) I do have a question that might seem dumb but nonethelss a question in my mind...
...If a company can spend between $50k-100K and purchase a turnkey internet casino consisting of an "outsourced" physical site (including software), "outsourced" transaction processing and credit card clearance for processing in an offshore country, and then just start taking gamblers money, while giving a cut to the actual site operator...this seems like a fantastic deal. However, if the costs are this low, I would assume that hundreds, even thousands of companies/inidividuals can also do this if they can come up with $100K or so. This leads to my point...a site that offers gambling will not be able to generate any revenue unless you have people actually going to your site ! This is much like what happenned with 1-900s a few years back. Entrepreneurs starting paying for "turnkey" 1-900#s with turnkey processing, content etc...and they figured they could just sit back and rake in the cash. Problem is that never really happenned because the hard part is not offering the service...but getting people to call you!
...How will FDCD or any other new "internet casino" do this ? How will they differentiate and get all the gambler traffic. I know...marketing IS the answer. I just think alot of investors may be underestimating how much cash you actually need to do this ! We are talking millions.
...
So, my point is that throwing up a site does not mean people will beat a path to it. And because a site just went up does not mean that it is an instant cash machine...think about it ! Companies spent zillions of dollars trying to get people to call their 1-800s, go their web sites etc.. What will happen when the big players with big marketing cash enter this arena...will the companies with $5-10Million in capitalization survive ?
